LESSON 8 Blocking your Bits and motifs

Lesson 8 will be blocking your bits and pieces.
When working with cotton thread you can pin it to a board and use a spray bottle with liquid starch and water to spray it and let it dry in place or you can wash it in mild dish soap, rinse  and then pin it to your board.  When pinning it to a board be sure all like motifs are pinned to the same size.

Pinning to the same size can be done by making a printout of the motif and tracing it to a clear plastic sheet, then pin each motif to this to dry.

When working with silk or rayon thread you will need to pin your motif to your board and then steam it with your iron. I use a steam iron positioned 1/4 inch above the motif so that the iron does not flatten your work.  Make a copy of your motif on a paper sheet to put under the motif so that each one is steamed to the same size.

When using a grid board make sure you pin each motif the same size.
